Here is the important question
Normally when people leave your business,
someone will say thank you for coming, maybe, sometimes, they may say “come back soon”…and that’s it.
What system you have in place to automatically follow-up with your customers?
Are you asking for their phone number and or their email address?
If you don’t have a way to automatically follow-up with customers via email or text here are two resources you should check out immediately.
Before you go any further, let’s talk about when the customer arrives to your business.
Let’s assume you have a bar or a restaurant.
Can you afford to give the new client a free drink for “check in” using Facebook?
Definitely, why not!
Here is another example.
If you sell computer parts, can you offer a 10% coupon to use within the next 30 days?
Yes you can…and you want them to use your discount in the next visit within…let’s say 10 days not 30 days. Because you want them to come back again and again and again.
When you give your customers a reason to come back, they will and they will buy again.
If you do everything mention so far,
you will have a way to capture your customers information, automatically follow-up with them, and a way to bring them back to your business with minimum effort. In most cases without you having to do anything.
Now, let’s take this strategy to the next level using Facebook.
Get more customers using Use Facebook check-in
When customers check’s in using Facebook, it will show their location to their friends making this a free word-of-mouth advertising strategy for your business.
Here is what you should do.
Before your customer leave ask if they want “something”.
That “something” will vary depending on your business.
It could be a discount to use within the next 10 days, or a combination of incentives the customers can redeem by returning to your establishment.
Whatever incentive you give, only send it via email.
In step 5 above I said, ” Login to Aweber and create 4 follow-up emails”
Here are 4 emails you can create to deliver your incentive and automate your follow-up
- The day off, you can send a thank you text with a onetime coupon asking them to come back and encoring them to forward the text.
- The day after, you should send a helpful reminder email (tip, advice) include a survey.
- 1 week later, send an email where they just check in with the customer.
- 2 weeks after, send an email offering the loyalty program…but not just ANY loyalty program.
No sales pitch. Nothing. Just a simple email asking them how they’re doing, and then share some valuable data.
Having a good customer loyalty program
Creating a good loyalty program will boost your sales.
Here is what you should do. In the first visit give the customer a special loyalty card that would work like this:
For every 10 visits, get “something” free.
But here’s the kicker!
To persuade the customer to come back sooner than normal, you want to say something like this.
(Using a restaurant as an example) Paid $50 towards your next meal, you’ll get a free punch in your card today, and when you come within 10 days one punch when you return, plus another $50 of food.
That way, when they return (within 10 days), they’ll have 3 punches and they only need another 7 to get “the grand prize”. Why is this works?
It’s all about artificial advancement.
Artificial advancement is all about to give the person a head start.
Because people are more likely to complete a tasks when they’re closer to the finish line.
Nunes, Joseph and Dreze, Xavier, The Endowed Progress Effect: How Artificial Advancement Increases Effort. Journal of Consumer Research, Vol. 32, March 2006. Available here
When you implement this marketing strategy you will convert the one time customers into customers that come more frequently and all you have to do is set-up your Facebook business page correctly and program 4 messages to be sent after a new customer uses your services.
